Aluminium die casting spotlight

Aluminium is one of the most commonly used materials in die casting. It is lightweight, strong, rigid and can withstand high temperatures, making it common across many industries. Other qualities of aluminium include:

  • Good stiffness and strength-to-weight ratio
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Heat dissipation
  • Full recyclability
  • Suitability for harsh environments
  • Excellent EMI shielding properties
  • Excellent thermal conductivity

Aluminium alloys

At Dynacast, the aluminium alloys most commonly used in North America are A380, 383 and 413, with equivalent Asian and European alloys used in other regions. However, a number of other alloys are available depending on customer requirements and product design needs. Unlike primary aluminium alloys that must be mined and extracted from ore, these secondary alloys are derived from primary aluminium scrap, making them more environmentally friendly. Dynacast has aluminium plants worldwide, meaning your aluminium parts can be manufactured at a location best suited to you.

Automotive

Unlike conventional hot chamber die casting, which uses a two-part tool, Multi-Slide die casting employs four perpendicular slides in the tool, enabling the creation of intricate and precise castings. This technology provides design freedom, enabling the production of complex geometries with unmatched accuracy.

Handheld devices

Aluminium die-cast shields and housings provide EMI shielding, rigidity and durability with minimal additional weight for handheld devices. This is an important quality when requirements for suppressing emissions and interference are high.
