Thixomolding Vs. Dynathixo

Thixomolding uses solid chips that are compressed, heated, and mixed into a semisolid material before being injected into the die with the extruder.

Dynathixo combines Dynacast’s cold chamber process with a thixomolding extruder to mix solid chips into the pressure chamber, utilizing a cold chamber plunger and hydraulic system for a robust operation.

Inside the Dynathixo Process

The Dynathixo process involves feeding magnesium alloy chips into a heating chamber where they are mechanically processed and sheared by a rotating screw inside a barrel, transforming them from dendritic to globular state. The semisolid material is then injected into a preheated mold under high pressure, allowing for thinner walls, lower porosity.
