Black Chromate without Zinc
An inexpensive type of chromate used for applications that do not require high corrosion resistance. This coating is applied directly onto zinc die casts – the parts are submerged in a seal composed of chromates and phosphates. The submergence enhances the salt spray resistance of the coating. Finally, an organic, water dip lacquer may be applied to protect the finish and improve the appearance of the component. Typical thickness is less than .000001”.
