Dynacast Lake Forest announced a new initiative on Tuesday, April 12th that will not only lower their annual energy consumption by greater than 6% but will take them one step further in their green initiatives. The southern California die cast manufacturer has partnered with a major battery company—known for their electric cars—to install five state of the art power pack batteries. Being one of the first die casting companies in the world to take on this initiative, representatives from the battery company were on site for the ribbon cutting, as well as the Mayor Pro Tem of Lake Forest and Dynacast customers and suppliers.

The five—200 kW—modular battery blocks will act more like efficient generators that allow Dynacast to control their energy consumption and demand during peak hours. The battery pack scales to the space, power, and energy requirements of the 115,000 square foot plant.

“Dynacast believes in investing in our people, developing highly sought after manufacturing skills, providing the highest quality components for customers, and at the same time being mindful of our environment. The Lake Forest plant has already installed LED lighting, large ambient skylights, and other energy conservation projects throughout the factory in addition to the new battery system,” said Thinh Pho, General Manager of Dynacast Lake Forest.

Dynacast will continue to add green business practices and initiatives to better their manufacturing process and the environment around the Lake Forest plant.
